Keep on Keepin’ On with The Justin Kauflin Trio
Hailed by the legendary Quincy Jones as a “simply beautiful cat,” 29-year-old Justin Kauflin is an emerging jazz pianist whose critical acclaim continues to rise exponentially. Fresh on the heels of their 2015 album “Dedication,” the Justin Kauflin Trio is taking the stage at Scullers Jazz Club for an one night only intimate performance.
Pianist Justin Kauflin is probably best know for co-starring with jazz legend, the late trumpeter Clark Terry, in the award-winning documentary titled “Keep On Keepin’ On“. In addition to Terry, one of Kauflin’s biggest supporters and mentors continues to be legendary producer/musician Quincy Jones. Justin was also signed by Jones for management, and in 2013 and 2014, was part of Quincy Jones’ World Tours which traveled to Montreux, Switzerland; Vienne, France; Seoul, Korea; Tokyo, and Hiroshima, Japan.
Justin Kauflin was also mentored by jazz piano greats Harold Mabern, James Williams and Mulgrew Miller. He was also a finalist in the Thelonius Monk Piano Competition-2011 and voted “Jazz Artist of the Year” in VEER magazine. Kauflin’s 2015 release, “Dedication,” debuted at #6 on CMJ Jazz chart, #10 on Billboard’s Traditional Jazz Chart, hit #1 on JazzWeek‘s chart, remaining in the top 10 for 9 straight weeks.
